David Canty is an award winning and globally renowned respected leader in the Loyalty marketing and customer engagement space. He has been invited to speak at leaders of loyalty conferences all around the world. He has designed and transformed loyalty programs in multiple industries: Airline (JetBlue), Hotel (SPG and IHG Rewards Club) and Retail (AutoZone Rewards).
David Canty was recently Vice President of Global Loyalty Programs at IHG (4 Years). In this role he was responsible for IHG Rewards Club, IHG Business Rewards, and Intercontinental Hotels Ambassador program, and all customer marketing campaigns. He led the loyalty program design and execution, including the member earning and redemption structure, hotel benefits delivery, hotel member experience, and owner assessment & reimbursement policies. David was responsible for the ongoing P&L management of the two loyalty program extensions, including IHG Business Rewards, and InterContinental Ambassador, a paid for loyalty program for the Luxury segment at the InterContinental hotel brand.
Prior to joining IHG, David designed and led a team in developing JetBlue’s award winning TrueBlue program. Focusing on social engagement and customer experience while also developing a revenue-based points model, it revolutionized how airlines view their loyalty programs. It gave members much more choice and utility, which became industry leading. In his 8 years at JetBlue he was also responsible for email marketing, partnership marketing and the cobrand credit card (JetBlue Card by American Express). He also led the JetBlue corporate sales teams as JetBlue became more relevant to the business traveler.
David spent 11 years at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and he was a key member of the original development team for Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG). He subsequently became responsible for the global airline partnership portfolio for Starwood, and all global partnerships to the Sheraton brand.
David was born and raised in Cork, Ireland. He is a passionate fan for Liverpool Football Club, and the Boston Red Sox. He spends his down time with his family and tries to attend all of his children’s activities.
